Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary


Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Karbi Anglong district of Assam in North East India. The sanctuary is rich in flora and fauna. It is famous for rare species of Orchid. The detail information about the sanctuary is given below.

Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council. It is adjacent to Garampani Wildlife Sanctuary. It covers an area of 37 sq kms. The sanctuary harbours around 51 rare species of Orchid

The ideal time to visit the sanctuary is November to April.

What to see in Nambor


Although the sanctuary is small in area you can see many rare species of animals and birds in the park. Some commonly found animals are Tiger, Elephant, Gaur, Bears, Sambar, Barking deer, Rhesus macaque, Hoolock gibbon, Wild pig etc. The park is rich in terrestrial woodland birds. Along with these one can see varieties of reptiles like Python, Cobra, Monitor lizards in the park.

How to reach Nambor


Dimapur Airport is the nearest airport which is only 55 kms away from the park. Jorhat Airport is 85 kms away. The nearest towns are - Golaghat -35 kms from the park, Diphu -92 kms away, Guwahati - 330 kms away and Kohora (Kaziranga N.P) is 70 kms away from the park. Bus service is readily available from all these towns.animal
