Kalyan Dombivili Municipal Corporation Civic Polls Date Results

The Kalyan Dombivili Municipal Corporation (KDMC) Maharashtra Polls are scheduled for the third or fourth week of October 2010. There will be a fierce tussle for the 107 seats to be contested at the KDMC Civic Polls 2010.

The exact dates of the Kalyan Dombivili Municipal Corporation Polls have not yet been officially announced, but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena parties have already decided on a strategic move: to contest the KDMC Civic Polls together. During the previous polls, too, the BJP-Sena alliance had contested together, sharing seats. Presently, the Kalyan Dombivili Municipal Corporation has 16 BJP corporators and 32 Shiv Sena corporators. For the KDMC Civic Polls 2010 also, the BJP-Shiv Sena seat-sharing will be on the same basis, with the Shiv Sena contesting 62 seats and the BJP 45 seats. As yet, the names of the candidates have not been announced.

The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance will face stiff competition from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The MNS had received a good deal of support at the 2010 Legislative Assembly elections, and snatched a good percentage of the vote bank from the Shiv Sena and BJP parties. Within the jurisdiction of Kalyan District, the MNS has one seat from Kalyan West and one seat from the Kalyan rural constituency, both considered as major MLA seats.
