Abdul Kalam, who was the 11th president of India, was the Trinamool Congress's candidate of choice. At the same time Shiv Sena will support Pranab Mukherjee for the upcoming Presidential election. On 18 June 2012, NCP General Secretary D P Tripathi informed that they have full faith in P. A Sangma that he will opt out from presidential poll 2012 and to support Pranab Mukherjee. It's clear that Sangma is facing pressures from party sides to withdraw from the presidential race. Even NCP chief Sharad Pawar had advised Sangma to withdraw from this election. P.A.Sangma latest news reports that he had resigned from NCP to compete for presidential election.
