Family of Aparna Sen and her early childhood


Age of Aparna Sen is 66 as she was born in the year 1945 to a Brahmin Family. Father of Aparna Sen is Chidananda Dasgupta, who is a wellknown Veteran Critic and Film Maker. Mother of Aparna Sen is Supriya Dasgupta. She spent most of her childhood days in Hazaribagh and Kolkata, and studied in Modern High School for Girls.
After that she studied her B.A. English Honors from Presidency College.

Film Career of Tollywood director Aparna Sen


From her childhood she acted in various school dramas and school plays. She started her Film Career in the year 1961 at the age of 16, in the Bengali movie Samapti, directed by Satyajit Ray, another renowned director in Indian Cinema. She did various hit films with Soumitra Chatterjee and our legendary actor Uttam Kumar.

Some of her hits are Basanta Bilap, Baksa Badal, Joy Jayanti, Alor Thikana, Memshaheb, Unishe April, etc etc.
In 1969 Sen appeared in Guru, an English language feature.

Directorial Career:
She is also a noted Director in Indian Cinema. Her directorial debut was an English Movie, 36 Chowringhee Lane, which she also wrote. The film won the Grand Prix at the Manila International Film Festival and also National Award. Her directorial hits also include Sati, Paroma, Mr&Mrs Iyer, Paromiter Ekdin.

Personal Life of Aparna Sen, veteran director of Bangla cinema


She has been married three times. Her first husband was Sanjay Sen. Her second husband was the Science writer and journalist Mukul Sharma but later they got divorced. Her 3rd husband was Kalyan Roy, author and Professor of English in US.

She is a mother of 2 daughters, Kamalini, the elder one who was married in USA and Konkona SenSharma who is also a noted actress in Film Industry.
