He was born on January 15,1938 in Kishoreganj District of undivided Bengal, now in Bangladesh. His father name was Late Promothonath Goswami. He dis his schooling from :Thirthopati Institution of Kolkata and college from Kumar Asutosh Institution,Kolkata.

Football Career of Chunni Goswami


Chuni Goswami learned the basics of Football from his school coach, Sibdas Banerjee and joined Junior Mohun Bagan Club in the year 1946 at the age of just 8 years. He played there till the year 1954 when he moved to Senior Mohun Bagan Club and continued playing for the club till the year 1968 till his retirement. During his stay with the club, he captained the club in 5 seasons from 1960 to 1964.

Cricket Career of Chuni Goswami

Chuni Goswami is also a noted Cricket Player. He started his First Class cricket career in the year 1962. He represented the Bengal Team in 46 matches of first Class Cricket. He also served as the Captain of the Bengal Cricket team for a period of time, and successfully led the team to the final round of Ranji Trophy twice in his career.

• Best Footballer award by Kolkata Veterance Sports Club in the year 1958
• Best Striker of Asia Award in the year 1962
• Arjuna Award in the year 1963
• Padmasree Award in the year 1983

• Led the Indian team to gold at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta
• Was Serif of Kolkata Corporation in the year 2005
• Awarded Mohunbagan Award in the year 2005
