Tarapith is a famous holy place located in Birbhum in West Bengal. Lots of people visit here everyday to get the blessings of Goddess Tara. One can go here on the weekends and get the blessings of the Divine Goddess Tara. One can start on Friday and come back on Monday.

Tarapith is a famous Hindu pilgrimage destination visited by thousands of devotees everyday. Married women visit to this temple to get long married life.
It is located near the Dwarka river and the Famous Bamdev Shangha Ashram is also nearby. It is one of the Sakthi Pithas found across all over India.
Tarapith is also famous for world known great saint Bamakhayapa. In the burning ground in Tarapith saint Bamakhayapa sat for meditation and its believed that Maa Tara appeared before him and gave divine powers.Also many small shrines dedicated to other Gods and Goddesses are there.

How to reach Tarapith, West Bengal


Tarapith By Air : The nearest airport to go to Tarapith is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Intl Airport, Kolkata. Tarapith is located at a distance of approximate 230 kms from Kolkata airport. Taxi services are available from airport to Tarapith. Kolkata is well connected to Delhi, Mumbai and other major airports. Many direct flights to foreign cities are available from Kolkata.

Tarapith By Train : The nearest railway station to go to Tarapith is Rampurhat station. The distance of Tarapith and Rampurhat Railway station is approximately about 6 km . Taxi services are available from railway station to Tarapith. Rampurhat station is well connected to Howrah and Sealdah. Lot of trains are available throughtout the day from Howrah and Sealdah for going to Rampurhat.

Tarapith By Bus : One can go to Tarpith by buses. Many state run buses connect Tarapith with neighboring areas. It is well connected to Esplanade/Dharamtalla bus stand from Kolkata.

Places to visit nearby: Massanjore and Bakreshwar

Where to Stay: Lots of Hotels are available in Tarapith catering to tourists everyday. One can easily find a place to stay.
