By Rail
Tarakeshwar railway station is the nearest rail station to Kamarpukur. Trains are easily available from Howrah and Sealdah railway stations in Kolkata to take you to Tarakeshwar. From Tarakeshwar one can get local buses or tourist buses or jeeps to take you to Kamarpukur. Though Kamarpukur is visited throughout the year but the best time is during the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi or Swami Vivekananda. What to see in Kamarpukur


The main attraction of Kamarpukur is the Sri Ramakrishna Mandir. This Mandir is exactly built in the place where Sri Ramakrishna was born and this Mandir has a marble image of Sri Ramakrishna. Every morning and evening pujas are performed here and tourists can present here at that time and can take part in morning bhajans and evening bhajans. One will feel the peace of mind by just sitting here and chanting the mantras.
One can also visit the Pathshala at Kamarpukur Village or the school where little Ramakrishna took his school lessons during his childhood days. One can also visit and see the small house at Kamarpukur where Sri Ramakrishna used to live. It is maintained with great care.

Kamarpukur village's Haldar Dighi where Sri Ramakrishna used to take bath is another must see place in Kamarpukur. In Kamarpukur one can also find many ancient temples, which have close association with the life of Sri Ramakrishna.
