The West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited, in collaboration with the tourism Ministry of the State, is organizing a beach festival at Digha this month.

Digha is one of West Bengal's most famous beach spots. Located just over 180kms from Kolkatta, the beach draws hundreds of weekend visitors and tourists from all over the country.

2012 Digha Beach Festival Dates: January 13th to January 16th, 2012.

2012 Digha Beach Festival events highlights

Tourism Minister Rachpal Singh has stated that water sports would be introduced for the first time in Digha, as well as at the nearby Tajpur and Mandarmani beaches. The water sports will include: para-sailing, water skiing, snorkelling, water zorbing, etc.

Beach volleyball, beach kabaddi and a half-marathon will be the beach sports events at the Digha beach festival.

There will be an all-terrain bike competition too.

Live musical bands will perform on specially erected platforms on the beach.

The food festival organised during the festival will offer delectable seafood, including local favourites Hilsa, Pomphret, Betki and Prawn.

Films will be screened on giant screens set up specially for the festival.

There will be a colourful fireworks display in the evenings every day.

The West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited is providing a special tourism package of 2 nights, 3 days. The food is not included & accommodation is on twin-sharing basis.

Day 1:
8a.m.: Departure from Tourism Centre, Kolkata (address below)
12.30noon: Arrival at Digha, lunch at Larica Holiday Inn; cultural program, dinner, night stay at the hotel.

Day 2:
8a.m.: Breakfast
9a.m.: Individual activities at beach stalls
12.30noon: Lunch at hotel, followed by departure for Mandarmoni & beach activities.
4p.m.: Departure from Mandarmoni
5.30p.m.: Cultural program
10p.m.: Dinner and night stay at the hotel.

Day 3:
8a.m.: Breakfast
12noon: Lunch
12.30noon: Departure for Kolkata
