It is only 13 Km away from the Kathi region of Midnapore. It is only four Km away from another tourist spot, Junput. Since, Bankiput is not yet popular and well-known among the tourists, the question of dealing with madding crowd does not exist and one could enjoy a couple of days peacefully here.

How to reach Bankiput?


From Kolkata, you may reach the Bankiput (Gopalpur) directly by a car. Alternatively, you may board Tamralipta express from Howrah Station. It departure time from the Howrah station is 6:40 am and reaches Kanthi (Contai) by 9:25 am. From here, you may reach Bankiput on a hired carriage. The hire may cost you around RS 500 to RS 600, but in winter, you may have to pay some extra money as hire because of a big rush of tourists. You have another option available for you from the Howrah Station. Kandari express departs from Howrah at 2:10 pm and arrives at Kanthi (Contai) at 5:10 pm.

Another alternative for you is to board a state bus from the Esplanade (Dharmatala) bus terminus. From here, buses depart for Digha every hour from morning to 4 pm in the evening. It would take around four and a half hours to reach Kanthi and the bus fare is around RS 65. Besides, you may also get buses departing for Digha from the Howrah station.

Best time to travel


You may travel to this place at any time of the year and one thing that it guarantees you for sure is pleasure. Pleasure of peace, delight of tranquility and soothing of your inner soul. If you are traveling in winter, you can bathe yourself in the lovely sunshine of the sea beach. If you are traveling in the monsoon, gray clouds with thunder, lightning and raindrops would greet you and give you an eternal satisfaction.

Food and Lodging


Only one guest house exists near the sea beach. Jhinuk Residency is serving the guests or tourists for a long time now. It is a two-floor structure and has double bed-rooms for the visitors. The rooms are spacious and airy with attached bathrooms. A double bed room may cost you RS 850 to RS 950 per day. It also serves food and make arrangements for touring the nearby region at extra cost.

Nearby attractions


The Casuarina forest hisses and dances with the soft winds blowing near the beaches. The sea beach looks like a red carpet with countless crabs of different sizes hovering over it. The sea gets restless during the high tides and water spreads very far. You may sit near the beach and enjoy the romanticism of the sea, water, soft wind and the vast sky overhead. Besides, you may also mix with the locals to get more details about the place. Moreover, the Dariapur lighthouse built during the British rule is also a great attraction of the place. If you get an opportunity to climb at the top, the scenic beauty of the sea and surrounding place would weigh-in your heart. Moreover, you may hire a rickshaw and visit the nearby Petua Ghat Deshpran fishing harbour. It is a big harbour that pleases you with picture perfect view of the surroundings.
