Totapuri Mango comes in yellow or golden colour with a greenish appearance. An unripe Totapuri mango is of light green colour. For making Totapuri Mango jam you will need half ripened Totapuri mangoes which come in greenish yellow colour. In India, Totapuri mangoes are mainly grown in Maharashtra and parts of Andhra Pradesh. Totapuri mangoes are available in the market at quite cheaper rate than other verities of mangoes. The production of Totapuri mango crop is more in the month of May and June when it sells at a cheap price in the market. This is the period a person interested in making mango jam should buy it. Totapuri mango is one of the outstanding of more than hundred verities of mangoes grown in India. Mango is a tropical crop cultivated in India from times immemorial. There is a mention of the mangoes in our ancient literature. Known as the king of the fruits, it is praised as a heavenly fruit in Indian ancient scripts like Vedas and Ayurvedic medicine classics.

Ingredients for Totapuri mango jam recipe

Totapuri mangoes of medium to large size – 3 (for grating)
Sugar - 250 gms
Vanilla essence - 5 drops
Colour - Orange
Musk melon seeds - 20 gms
Salt - a pinch

Preparation method of Totapuri mango jam recipe

Grate the Totapuri mangoes and keep aside. Take 4 table spoonful of water in a pan. Keep the pan on stove with full heat. When the water is boiling add sugar to it. Keep stirring till the sugar dissolves. Now add salt, orange colour, vanilla essence, musk melon seeds and grated mangoes to the sugar mixed boiling water. Allow the mixture to boil for 3 to 4 minutes. Keep stirring continuously until the consistency becomes thick. Serve it after it is cool.
