Recipe: How to make Cumin Rice


Cumin is a spice rich in iron and manganese. It also helps in breaking down food, thereby helping in digestion. Try this recipe which is a unique blend of cumin and rice, which is rich in carbohydrates and starch.

Ingredients

Basmati rice 1 cup
Water 1 1/2 cup
Ghee 1 tsp
Oil 1/2 tsp
Cumin 2 tsp
Cloves 2 nos.
Cinnamon small 1 no.
Bay leaf 1 no.
Onion 1 no.
Salt to taste
Coriander chopped to garnish
Cashew, Badam, dry Grapes 1 ½ tsp

Method

1. Soak basmati rice for 15 mins and drain. (take basmati rice and water in 1:1 1/2 ratio respectively)

2. Roast cashew, badam, and dry grapes in ghee oil. Keep aside.

3. In a pan, sauté jeera, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf, onion, and mix it along with the rice.

4. Pour water in the ratio of 1: 1 1/2 (For 1 cup of rice, add 1 1/2 cups of water).

5. Leave the pan closed for about 5 -7 mins on medium flame.

6. Switch off the stove.

7. Transfer it onto a serving dish, and garnish with the raisins roasted (step 2).

Cumin rice is now ready to be served. Tomato sauce/chilli sauce complement well with cumin.
