Recipe for Onam special - Sweet Ada
Onam days Malayalees have their own variety foods.Varius combinations and various foods are prepared in this time. Ada is on of he food which is used to prepare and it will give to god as offering or Nivedya. The tasty,delicious, traditional Ada can prepare easily. This recipe will like everyone.
Rice flour - half kg [ For 15 persons ]
Jaggery - 250 gm
coconut - 1
Ghee - three teaspoon
Water - 2 cup
Salt - small amount
First take rice flour and add salt in small amount and add water mix it well. In the same time take jaggery and make the liquid of jaggery by boiling with small amount of water. When it turns to liquid add grinned coconut into that mix it well. And add Ghee on to this mix. After this keep for cooling atleast 5 minutes. Then take a banana leaf piece and pour the rice mix and make shape in round. It should not be more thick or more thin. Then after that add the coconut-jaggery mix on to leaves and filled in upper side of rice mix. Fold the leaves neatly and should not break the leaves.Put in a steam for 5 to 10 minutes.It is like preparing Idli. And after that you can take sweet ada, allow to cool for some time. And enjoy the delicious taste of our traditional Ada. It can use as snack in the evening or sweet in the morning with breakfast.
