    Test matches and ODIs - Australia tour of India, 2023

    Four test cricket matches and three ODI matches were planned for Australia tour of India, 2023 and already two test matches are over and India won both of them. Now third is going on in Indore (1 - 5 March). India made 109 runs in first inning while Australia made 197. India played its second inning and made 163 runs and now leading by 75 runs only. Let us see how Australia now plays its second inning.

    The 4th Test match will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 9 - 13 March.
    Three ODI are to be planned at Mumbai (17 March), Visakhapatnam (19 March), and Chennai (22 March) respectively.

    Let us cheer team India for winning the series.

    The report has just come in that we lost the third Test match. Australia lost just one wicket in the second innings and won with a resounding victory, wrapping up the match on the third day.

    Australia have thus sealed their place in the World Test Championship Finals scheduled for 12th June at the Oval, England. It is imperative for India to win the next Test match to qualify, too, otherwise Sri Lanka or South Africa can also have a chance to qualify.

    It is very unfortunate that India lost the third match. This victory took Australia to the finals of WTC. India is in second position and if it wins the 4th match, it may go to the finals. Let us hope that India will play well and win the match.
    There was a chance for India to reverse the decision of not out-given to an Australian batsman. The bowler and the wicketkeeper asked the Captain to go for a review but the captain ignored and no review was taken. But later on, the replay showed that the batsman was out. Many people are criticising the captain for this.
    Anyhow, now there is no use in thinking about the lost match. They should concentrate and plan their game for the 4tn test match that is going to be played at Ahmedabad from the 9th to the 13th of March 2023. Let us all wish Indian team all the best.

    The fourth match has started with Australia in front with a huge total of 470 runs. Usman Khawaja missed out on a double century by 20 runs, while Cameron Green hit 114. Luckily for India, the ever-dependable Ashwin bagged six wickets. Now the onus rests on our batsmen to hold fort and reach the target. They are trailing by a huge margin of 444, and, as mentioned earlier, to quality for the World Test Championship, they must win. That really seems to be distant dream considered two days have gone. We need good knocks from every single batsman and, ideally, quick boundaries, too.

    Yes, the fourth test match (9 to 13 March) is going on between Australia and India (third day). In the first inning Australia made 460 runs and now India playing and at 1455 hrs has scored 205/2. So India is trailing by 275 runs.
    Let us hope for the best.

    Today (12.03.23) is the fourth day of the above test match and India has played very magnificently scoring 571 runs.
    Now Australia has started playing the 2nd inning but 4th day ends. Only one day (fifth day) is remaining. Can India win?

    I was not really expecting India to win. I think it was pretty much predictable that it would be a draw, and indeed, it was so. It was great that Virat Kohli won the man-of-the match award and even more fitting that the man-of-the-series award be jointly awarded to Ashwin and Jadeja.

    So India have won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 with the four-match series ending 2-1. We next move on to the ODIs.

    Fourth test match between Australia and India concluded as draw. It is interesting to note that Virat Kohli did not make any century in test matches since November 2019 and many fans were seeing that as a void in his career. But the century made by him in this test match has brought him back to the limelight and this is his 28th test century (out of 494 matches) making the fans happy. With that he becomes next to Sachin Tendulkar who had played in 664 test matches and had made 100 centuries.
    In test matches many times we witness a draw. Probably that was a reason why T20 became so popular and attracted people and number of viewers for T20 increased significantly as compared to the test matches.
    Waiting for first ODI on 17th March to be played in Mumbai.

    Yesterday's match was a great time for Indian team as they won the first ODI match against Australia in the present tour. India won by 5 wickets (61 balls left). Ravindra Jadeja got player of the match award.
    So India leading by 1-0 in this three match ODI series.
    Well done team India.

    Update (21.03.23):
    In 2nd ODI, on 19.03.23, played in Visakhapatnam, Australia won by 10 wickets.
    That makes the score as 1 - 1 and now the 3rd match would decide the winner of the ODI series.
    Now the 3rd ODI match to be played in Chennai, is scheduled for tomorrow (22.03.23). Let us wish team India a sure win in this match.

    Update:
    India played well but Australia emerged as winner (by 21 runs) in this 3rd ODI and won the ODI series.

    It is unfortunate that we lost the plot in the third ODI and thus the ODI series. The target was definitely achievable, considering the rich depth of batting we have, but once, again, the middle and late order collapsed. We seriously need to pull up our socks if we want to make a mark in the World Cup scheduled for October.
