Vishnu Vinod - A seamless player from Mumbai Indians IPL Team

Playing extraordinary shots and covering all ground with batting excellent shots, Vishnu Vinod has made a name for himself during the current IPL 2023 season. Hailing from Kerala, the batsman has been coached by Tinu Yohannan.

Tinu Yohannen first saw Vishnu batting about 6 to 7 years back. He had been with the Kerala state team for more than 8 years. His major break into international cricket has been with the IPL Mumbai Indians team. Similar to MS Dhoni, Vishnu wanted to open the innings for his team. But MS Dhoni fits almost anywhere. Vishnu could not make a mark as an opener. Many times he was the last person to come in. It was then that coach Tinu suggested coming in at the 3-down or the 4-down position. The middle order seemed good for him, where the initial pressure has reduced, power play is completed and a more settled kind of play is necessary to bring in the runs.

With this level of play, Vishnu comes in the similar line of MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant who have held the middle order through the last decade.

The future for Vishnu Vinod seems bright. His consistency in state-level champions, Ranji's trophies and now the IPL paves his path towards the international cricket team of India. Time will tell us how
the Left-handed batsman's potential will keep him going through his cricket career in India. The uncapped potential and youngster energies will be the best to make use of the wicketkeeper-batsman in the near future.

I think Vishnu Vinod has not yet been a regular as a batsman-cum-wicket keeper in the Mumbai Indians IPL team. Since Ishan Kishan is playing a stellar role as both, an opener, and as a wicket keeper, Vishnu does require more opportunities to prove himself to take a spot in the national team. For the Test team, K.S. Bharat is the first choice after Ishan Kishan (Ishan got injured in a freak incident yesterday during the game when Jordan's elbow banged into his eye). Since Rahul is also injured, it is possible that Vishnu will get a call-up as a back-up for Bharat if Ishan does not recover in time for the upcoming 2023 World Test final against Australia which begins in London on 7th June.

Yes. In IPL 2023, playing for the MI team, Vishnu Vinod made a mark for himself. As mentioned by the author he may be a good fit in the late middle order for batting in the matches. But as mentioned by Vandana, Bharat is also trying to make a permanent berth in the cricket team but Isan Kishan is already there and K L Rahul is also there. So If two of the above three are not fit for the selection, then only Vishnu may get a chance. Otherwise, he has to wait for some period and he should make use of any chance that comes his way. to confirm his seat in the team.
