Bhavatharini is an Indian Tamil singer, music director and a national award winner too. Bhavatharini is the daughter of the film music director Illaiyaraaja and her brothers are noted film music directors Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. This female has lent her voices mostly either to her father or to her brother's music composition. In the year 2001, she was rendered with a national award for her best performance in the movie Bharathi; a social film that compiled the life history of the patriot maha kavi Bharathi for which she sang the song “Mayil Pola Ponnu Oneu" composed by her father Illaiyaraaja himself.

Childhood and Back ground of Bhavatharini


Bhavatharini was born in a family of musicians which made her no wonder to get into the musical field. Her father is Illaiyaraaja, a legendary musician for both the filmy and non – filmy compositions and her mother is Jeeva. This couple is blessed with 2 sons and a girl; wherein the 2 sons being Karthik Raja, the eldest who composed songs for many films but did not turn out to be that successful as his father and the younger son Yuvan Shankar Raja who is the most acclaimed music director in the film industry for his music are all of western and metallic origin that takes over many youth hearts towards his musical magic.

Thus Bhavtharini had music in all things that she was brought up at home. Moreover, she was able to visualize many compositions which turned out be a practical session listening to all types of songs. Therefore, even as a child Bhavatharini developed interest in music, rather she was fed with music since her birth and learned carnatic and Hindustani music in her early childhood days and this served to be a good foundation for her career to move on well.

Bhavatharini is married to an advertising executive R.Sabari Raj recently and the couple lives happily. Sabari Raj is the son of S.N.Ramachandran a former journalist who went into the publishing field and started the Kannan Advertising. From the early days of her life Bhavatharini has kept herself familiar with all the musical things as she is seeing it from her early age.

Career and Livelihood of Bhavatharini


Bhavatharini even though started her carrier as playback singer; she also managed to become one of the most popular playback singer and also the music director. Bhavatharini learnt lots of things from her father and trained herself in the same path of music. She dedicated herself towards the music and gave lots of good contributions to the Film industry. Not only in the Tamil film had industry but also she showed her excellence in various other languages.

Bhavatharini as Play back singer


Bhavatharini made her first debut as a play back singer in the early 90s for a film called Raasaiya starring Prabhu Deva and Roja in the lead roles. It was in the year 1995, when Bhavatharini started her career as a play back singer for the cine industry. The song that she sung for the film turned out to be a super duper hit at that time and thereby made a good emphasis in her career. From then on, Bhavatharini was given a lot number of chances to sing with the albums that were composed by her father Illaiyaraaja and her brothers Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja.

On hearing the songs from Bhavatharini, other music directors in the film industry approached for her voice to be lent in the films that was to be musically directed by them. Some of such music directors were Sirpy and Deva. Some of the films that she portrayed herself as a triumphant play back singer were Azhagi starring Parthiban, Nanditha Dasand Devayani in the year 2001, Friends having Vijay, Surya and Devayani in the lead roles in the year 2001, Oru Naal oru Kanavu in 2005, Azhagai irukirai bayamai irukiradu in the year 2006, Poovellam Kettupaar starring Surya and Jyotika in the lead roles with the music direction taken over by her younger brother – Yuvan Shankar Raja, Thamiraparani starring Vishal, Prabhu, Nadhiya and Banumathy in the lead roles was released in the year 2006, Uliyin Osai in the year 2008, Dhanam in the same year and a hindi film potraying Amitabh Bachan in the lead role in the year 2009 for the film Paa which was composed by Illaiyaraaja.

Bhavatharini as Music Director


Apart from being a successful singer, Bhavatharini portrayed herself to be an established music director in the industry by setting tunes for a film named “Mitr" directed by Revathi in the year 2002 starring Shobana in the lead role. She then forayed in to the Telugu industry with Avunaa. Again it was the Bhavatharini and Revathi duo that made music for another Hindi film called “Phir Milenge" starring Shilpa Shetty, Abishek Bachan and Salman Khan. Other notable albums that had her as the music director were Amirtham and Geeya Geeya. As a good music director she learnt lots of things about music from her father Ilayaraja.
