Anuradha Sriram Parasuram was born in Chennai to a Tamil Brahmin family on the 9th of July in the year 1970. Her parents were Renuka Devi, a play back singer and Meenakshi Sundaram Mohan. Anuradha got herself graduated with a bachelor's degree in music at the Queen Mary's college in Chennai and pursued her masters in music in the same college. Anuradha learnt carnatic music from the musical colossal Thiru. S. Kalyanaraman and Hindustani classical music from Manik Bua Takurdas. Anuradha took up her masters in Ethnomusicology from the Wesleyan University, U.S.A prior to her foray into music.

A.R.Rahman, the music legend introduced her to the music industry by a solo song in the film Indra. She is married to a singer, Vidwan Sriram Parasuram whom she met at the Wesleyan university as a PhD student in the Ethnomusicology. The couple is blessed with a son named Jayant.
