Film on Vishnupant Govind Damle, Co- founder of Prabhat Film Company Pune

Majority of the people in India are familiar with the name Prabhat Film Company Pune. The Prabhat Film Company was formed in 1929 in Kolhapur located in Maharashtra state, India and was considered to be the famous Indian film production company with film studios. But in 1933 this Prabhat Film Company also known as Prabhat Films shifted their base to Pune. The founders of Prabhat Film Company were Vishnupant Govind Damle(V. G .Damle), V. Shantaram, S. Fatelal, S. B. Kulkarni and K. R. Dhaiber respectively. Now the latest news regarding this film company is that there will be a film on V. G. Damle, who is one of the founders of Prabhat film company.

The film of Vishnupant Govind Damle(V.G.Damle)titled Vishnupant Damle: The unsung Hero of Talkies was directed by Virendra Valsangkar in Marathi language. This is an hour-long-docu-drama mainly meant for highlighting the contributions of V. G. Damle to films and also to have an award instituted in the name of this great founder of Prabhat Film Company. After doing a research on the career, contributions and life of V. G. Damle for about 3 years, the film was completed. This film got screened at the film and television institute of India in Pune on 20 December 2011. At the Asian film festival Kolhapur on 23 December 2011, Vishnupant Damle: The unsung Hero of Talkies will be screened. It is also expected to be screened at the Pune International Film festival (PIFF) that is scheduled early next year.
