Sardar Patel Stadium (Motera Stadium) is one of the good Cricket stadiums of India located in the Motera village of Ahmedabad. So the stadium is also called Motera Stadium. The Sardar Patel stadium is owned by Gujarat Cricket Association(GCA) and comes under the West Zone.

There are one other stadium as same name of Sardar Patel Stadium in Navrang pura area in Ahmedabad.So People called it as Sardar stadium and called Sardar Patel Stadium at Motera as Motera Stadium.

It is the biggest/largest stadium in the state, and has capacity of 54,000 spectators. It is well equipped with floodlights for day-and-night games/matches and is a regular venue for Test cricket and One Day Internationals (ODI) matches.

Sardar Patel Stadium is formerly known as the Gujarat Stadium, the ground was later after renamed after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. Apart from cricket matches, the ground has played host to a number of programs arranged by the Government of Gujarat.

Up to December 2011, the stadium has played host to 23 ODI matches. Only Eden Gardens (26 ODI matches) has hosted more ODI matches than Motera Stadium In India. The stadium was also hosted 3 matches in Cricket World Cup-2011, including a Quarter final match between India and Australia.

There are several stands for Public as well as private seating. Current status of stands at Sardar Patel Stadium are as follow (Its in a clockwise direction from top to bottom)

*East Upper and Lower Pavilion - Public seating

*Adani Lower Pavilion - Players dressing room, corporate boxes and public reserved seating

*West Pavilion - Public seating

All the stands are covered by roof and have two tiers. The media is also well taken care of by GCA, with an air-conditioned press box. Press box is wi-fi enabled and also it has a multipurpose media conference room. The stadium has car-park capacity of 10,000 vehicles.

The Adani Pavilion also houses more than 20 air-conditioned corporate boxes. There are 21 entry gates to the stadium making it easier for spectators for entery and exit to the stands.
