Examination tips for Gujarat Secondary Education Board (GSEB) SSC & HSC 2012

In order to excel in your professional life, one should have sound base with qualifications. Usually S.S.C. and H.S.Cs are exams which decide one's stream of specialization in University courses/degrees. Students having good marks in S.S.C. will get good higher secondary school and best stream like science in H.S.C. and students having good marks in H.S.C. will decide college/university whose gates are open to professional life. So, student must build their base for life at S.S.C. and H.S.C. level. And there is no shortcut to study/success. One has to earn it by hard-work only. And only one way to do is exam performance and following tips will get you closer to your goal of high marks in SSC and HSC 2012 exams.

Exam preparation tips before exams:



Normally students of SSC and HSC have exam fear but if they prepare well before examinations and have faith in God and in oneself,no one can stop them.

Prepare timetable:

  • Prepare timetable before exam to have enough time for preparation of each subjects before exam. Spare/allot more time to the subject which are very difficult for you but do not give too much time, also maintain balance of time between other subjects.

  • Prepare timetable based on the time left between exam dates and day when you prepare the timetable and allot time accordingly.

  • Make timetable which can be followed correctly instead of that just remain on piece of paper.


  • Improve Writing:

  • Improve you writing manner. Always try to write which can be easily readable to examiners. Only examiners are those who will evaluate your progress in particular paper.

  • Increase your writing speed that can be suitable to finish the whole paper with enough justification of question/answer. Maintain your speed of writing in exam.

  • Try to write neat and clean so one can understand what you want to tell.

  • Use mind mapping techniques and mnemonics that will help to grasp things very easily.


  • Note preparation:

  • Always have a habit of writing in your own words in separate notebook and this process is called 'note taking'.

  • Note will help you to do your study revision very speedily. Note will help you grasp your views very clearly than books with printed texts.

  • You can use highlighter to highlight the important words and sentence.


  • Paper solutions:

  • Try to solve previous question papers and try to complete it with suitable timings.

  • Give your answer sheet to your teacher so you can evaluate you timing, writing speed and marks as well.

  • Previous year papers will give you idea about the type of questions asked and your level of performance in those subjects.

  • Also solve practice papers given by various publishers/School teachers.


  • Recall:

  • Always have a habit of recalling what you read till the time of recalling. Only recalling will help you to write answers speedily.

  • If you cannot recall during exam paper time, there is no need of increased writing speed. So, recall it what you read.

  • Always take rest of 10 minutes after study of 50 minutes continuous study because 10 minutes rest is necessary as per scientific research which tell a break after continuous study helps to take a mind to store what you read and grasp upto 80% and this not possible for continuous study without any break.

    Exam tips in Examination hall:


  • Always reach to the examination centre before half and hour and take your seat when asked.

  • Do not read till starting of exam. Do not discuss anything to anyone before start of exam, sometimes this will divert your mind from focus.

  • Always first read all the instructions on question paper as well as on answer sheet.

  • Start answering to the question which are easy and takes little time compared to others. This will boost your confidence from star of the exam.

  • Always write with two pens, black for heading and blue for writing answer. This will make answer sheet more readable.

  • Keep enough blank lines to keep neat and clean answer-sheet.

  • Do not discuss with anybody what you wrote in so and so question at the end of exam paper. This will sometimes disappoint you when your answer is incorrect and this will affect future reading of next papers.



  • Other tips related to exams


  • Always make sure your exam tools which are pens(includes spare pen), pencils and related sets.

  • Visit exam centre/school in advance to make sure of location and the time taken by reaching to exam centre. Use shortest route to save time but should be free from traffic.

  • Keep your fees receipt and exam receipt handy because based on this receipt you will be allowed to enter the exam hall.

  • Visit HSC/SSC official website to be in contact with recent notices and announcements. Also website give you information related to past exams and its papers.

  • Most important, sleep well at least for seven-eight hours which will make you relaxed with exam burden as well as relaxation to your body for new work.

  • Choose your reading room or atmosphere where you cannot get any disturbance.
