Maithon Dam - Dams in Jharkhand

Being the biggest reservoir in the Damodar valley corporation, Maithon dam is located 52 km from Dhanbad. Initially the objective to build this dam was flood control, but eventually it serves the purpose of hydel electric power as well as tourist spots. A lake is adjoined to the dam, which is spread over an area of 65 sq km. The lake offers facilities like boating and fishing.

An underground power station installed at the Maithon dam is the first of its kind in south East Asia. The dam has thrived as a tourist destination for the past years, owing to the adjacent deer park, bird's sanctuary and Kalyaneshwari temple. It is easily accessible too. A correction to this article must be made. In the last paragraph, the name of the temple should be"Kalyaneshwari Temple", instead of "Latyaneshwari temple"

Another correction,the word "Jharkhand" in the starting paragraph is written as "JHarkhand" with two capital letters at the beginning which is grammatically incorrect. In addition to that the word "want" in the last paragraph is written as "wnat". Please rectify that as soon as possible
