In this article, I will brief you regarding Fire and life safety guideline. This article will include the importance of evacuation plans, procedures, fire prevention, common causes of fires. Evacuation Plan is including different types of fire notification systems, emergency exits and emergency procedures.

What do I do if there is a fire

EVACUATE
Evacuate the area where a fire occurs regardless saving of costly equipment that may be lost in fire. Do not use Elevator. Proceed to nearest emergency exit and gathered designated assembly area. Do not re-enter the building or fight with fire for any reason. Provide information to rescue person about people still in the building.

Alarm
Immediately sound the alarm and alert other person inside the building upon discovering a fire. Call the Police Department and fire & Rescue Department by using Emergency phone or cell phone and inform them with your name and the location of the fire.

Emergency Evacuation Plan during fire

Notification System

Emergency Exits
All exits must be clearly visible and illuminated and clearly marked, remain unlocked, and should not be blocked.

Emergency Procedures
Close all doors which contain any fires or smoke and shut off all equipment that may increase the fire.

Common Causes and precautions of Fires

Sparking, Damaged electric cord and open flames are most causes of fires. Do not use faulty extension cords. There should be not water leakage nearest place electrical equipment. The cords should not be strung through walls and damaged, and not set up where they would have to go under doors or floors. Be aware when using extension cords and pay close attention when using heat.

How Does a Fire Work

A fire needs three components to exist and spread. A fuel source must be exposed to a heat supply. Oxygen, from the air or oxygen tanks, acts as a catalyst to make the reaction take place, which creates a flame. The more the fuel and oxygen supply, the bigger the flame. Fire extinguishers are used to 'extinguish' one of the three components that allow the fire to exist.

Portable Fire Extinguishers

All personnel must be able to identify all extinguishers. Do not tamper with the extinguishers. If any of the extinguishers have been tampered with or are damaged or discharged for any reason, REPORT IMMEDIATELY!!
