Best Picnic Spot in Jharsuguda Koile Ghoghar


Koile ghoghar which comes under Jharsuguda district is one of the finest picnic spot in western odisha. Many visitors flock their every year to have picnic at the spot. The place is well connected by road, may be this also attracts many tourist.

Koili ghoghar a place 56km from the Jharsuguda main town and about 364km from Bhubaneswar by road. The pace has both the scenic beauty and religious imprints. Many people who know about the place as a sacred place come here to worship the deity installed just on the edge of the lake. This is believed that feeding the fishes which are there just below the temple which is almost hanging is fruitful for the donor. the person who feeds, there wishes come true on feeding.
It is also advised there, not to swim or go near the temples area of lake as it can disturb the fish community getting feeds.
This temple is opened in day time only and on some occasions it may remain closed.
viewing the lake from the temple adds another charm to it, if you are on the temple and look below in the lake you will find large fishes roaming there in wand of your feeds, so be prepare to take some feeds for fishes there, if you want to see fishes approaching you very near when you throw feeds towards them.

The beauty of koili ghoghar lies in the steep cut of rocks which almost makes the place like hill in water.
The steep is about 12feet high, so it is better to be alert on the edge. Though there the partition has been made, so that people may not flow down the steep rock.
The place has number of monkeys near the caves and temples. there are two small weathered caves.
Generally the temperature there remains low as compared to the near by areas, due to the dense forest and lakes chill water.

Transportation in Kolie Ghoghar
This place is well connected by roads, its just 32km from Belpahar which is a town with almost all the basic facilities and the road is a national highway 200 connecting Jharsuguda to Raipur.

Many tourist flock here every year because of its scenic beauty.
