Nandankanan Zoological Park at Bhubaneswar, Odisha The Nandankanan Zoological Park was established in the year 1960 at the capital Bhubaneswar of Odisha. This is a very famous Zoo in Odisha and has a good botanical garden inside. This Zoo was opened for the public visits in the year 1979 and it became the first Zoo in India which joined in World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Zoo is maintained by the Forest service of Odisha government. The location and atmosphere of this Zoo attracts the people from various states of India and also other countries. The Zoo has a huge lake called "Kanjia Lake" which has a surrounding area of about 54 hectares. The Kanjia lake is the source of water for providing pure water for the whole family of all animals in the Zoo. The total area of the Zoo is about 400 hectares. The Nandankanan Zoological Park also has very large home for variety of fishes in 34 different aquariums.
