Darranga Mela- a place of tourism and business


Daranga Mela is a small but important place for tourism and business. The town connects the important business hub Sumdrup Jonkhar of eastern Bhutan, The place is well connected from rest of India through Rangia (RLY JUNCTION) via the BRO’s road.

Darranga Mela is a popular place for the people of Lower Assam because of its business interest. The place connects Indo-Bhutan Border. It is place of intermingling of different ethnicity living together. Although, the place is small it has got interest due to business between the two country. Daranga mela connects the important bordering town, Sumdrup Jonkhar, of Bhutan. Sumdrup Jonkhar is a business Hub for the people of Eastern Bhutan. People of India can reach Sumdrup Jonkhar form Daranga Mela with proper Indian Identification. A lot of visitors are found between Darnga mela and Sumdrup Jonkhar everyday either for business purpose or for tourism.

How to Reach Darrnga Mela


Daranga Mela is well connected by road through Rangia which connect the NH 31. The is maintained by Border Road Organization, India to connect the two countries. The road passes through various important places of Kamrup and Baska districts of Assam. The places that touch are from Rangia – Tulsibari, Tamulpur and Kumarikata. The distance between Rangia and Darranga Mela is about 50 KM. Daily bus services are available from Guwahati, Barpeta, Nalbari, Bongaigaon apart from the various bus services of Bhutan to connect their bordering towns
