Introduction:

Jawalaji Mata is very famous and secred goddess for Himachalis and all Hindus. Jawalaji Mata temple is dedicated to Goddess Jwalamukhi. Jwalamukhi is the the deity of flaming mouth, built over some natural jets of combustible gas, believed to be the manifestation of the Goddess. There are nine natural flames burning always and worshipped as a manifestation of the nine Goddesses. The nine goddesses are Mahakali, Unpurna, Chandi, Hinglaj, Bindhya Basni, Maha Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ambika and Anji Devi.

The temple is constructed by Raja Bhumi Chand Katoch of Kangra, a great devotee of goddess Durga. It is believed that the Raja dreamt of the sacred place and after finding the whereabout of the place constrcted the temple. It is also belived that the tongue of Sati fell at the place where the temple of Jwalamukhi is situated. It is also Recognised as one of the 51 Shaktipiths of India

Puja / Prasad: Arti is done five times in the day, Havan is performed once daily The goddess is offerd Bhog of Rabri or thickened milk, Misri or candy, seasonal fruits, milk.

Location: Jawalamukhi Temple is 34-km from Kangra and 56 km from Dharamsala

How to reach:

1.By Air: The nearest domestic airport is Gaggal about 40kms.

2.By Rail: The nearest railway station is Jwalamukhi Road Railway Station at about 20kms and well connected by Pathankot / Chakki bank railway stations.

3.By Road: This palce is well connected by road to all the main places like Kangra, Dharamshala, Hamirpur, Una, Pathankot. State transport ply number of buses to this place from throughout the state. Most convienient way to reach here is by road.

Best time to visit: Through out the year. But Navaratra Celebrations in the month of March-April & September-October are very famous.
