Dussehra international festival of Kullu Valley

History of the festival
The main history behind this festival is totally related to the local king of the Kullu valley. This festival was firstly organized by the local king Jagat Singh which placed an idol of Ragunath. This festival is held every year in the Dhalpur Maidan of Kullu valley. During 18th century the king is so rich but at that time there is another person named Durgadutta which has some spiritual power to possessed pearls which means he can make jewelry. So the king Jagat think that he become so rich and people will make him as a new king so he said to his worker to take him and hang it, then his worker take Durgadatta to the king and the king want to kill him then Durgadutta think killing from the hand of raja he fallen into fired and curse the king if you eat then it will warm and if you drink than it will blood. So the king is in depression so he called the Brahmin whose says that curse is taken back only if the idol Lord Ragunath are taken from Ayodhya. Then the king sent two or three Brahmin to the Ayodhya to take the idol, when they reached there that they found it is not possible to stolen it but after many days at last they stolen it and came back to the kullu valley. And in next day the people of the Ayodhya see that the idol of the Lord's Ragunath were not here so they get surprised and they are searching for it after many month they found it in Kullu valley. But when they came it towards the Ayodha then it became and when it was taken towards to the kullu valley then it became so easy to take it, then the people of the Ayodhya are satisfied that this idol is situated in the kullu valey then it is taken to the kullu and then water is given to king and it is free from the curse. So from that day the king is decided to organize festival every year in the idol Lord's Ragunath. That's why this festival is held after the vijaya d ashmi and it takes for seven days, in which the Yatra of various lords are done.
How to reach this place
One can reach this place by bus or aero plane by nearby airport Buntar. This is ground is mainly situated in the kullu valley. Its distances from various places are given below are as: from state capital Shimla it is approximately 220 km, from national capital Delhi it is near about 500 km. So at the end we can say that it is a good place for the wondering apart from it there are so many place for the wondering in the kullu valley like Manali, Manikaran etc.
