Hampi Utsava - Nada Habba of Karunadu
This is a three day event which generally starts from 3rd ends on 5th November in Hampi, which is a village of district Bellary in north Karnataka. But this time it has been changed and the state government has planned grand celebrations of this utsav in 27th Jan 2010 to 29th Jan 2010.
This is also called as “vijaya Utsav", because this is the tradition followed since Vijayanagar Empire existed. This festival has been reiterated as the “Nada Utsava “or “Nada Habba" by the Government of Karnataka.
In this utsav there used to be an activity, where kings were weighed against gold or money and that money or gold used to give it to needful poor people.
This Utsav includes Dance, music and drama. Throughout the lanes, decorated elephants, horses and men dressed in the military fashion. .
One of the major attractions is shopping, as Hampi is famous for the craft and craftsmanship along with the festival colorful, musical can be seen in Hampi which truly have great reflections of great Vijayanagar's empire.
Some other events are “Janapada Kalavahini" "Jumbo Savari " similar to the Dasara elephant march and “Light and sound show" - special lighting of monuments across the 15 km of Hampi ruins on the banks of Tungabhadra.
How to Reach Hampi
It is situated at a distance of approximately 353 km from the capital city of Bangalore. The closest town to Hampi is Hospet. Hospet is having good connection to all places in Karnataka
By Road:
Hampi is well connected by road to Bangalore and other major cities of Karnataka.
By Train:
Hampi don't have a railway station and the nearest railway station is Hospet, which is about 13 km from this place.
By Air:
Bellary is the nearest airport to Hampi. There are direct flights of Air Deccan from Bangalore and Goa.
