Krishna River:

This is one of the longest rivers in India. The origin of this river is Mahabaleswar in Maharashtra, passes through Karnataka and meets the sea in the Bay of Bengal in Andhra Pradesh.
Many temples like dattareya temple in Maharashtra,sangameshwara shiva temple at haripur and aikya linga of Basaveshwara “koodala sangama “ are located in the banks of this river.

Kaveri River:

This is also called Dakshina Ganga (the Ganges of the south), is one of the great and sacred rivers of India and also called as jeeva nadhi in karnataka. It has many tributaries including Shimsa, Hemavati, Arkavathi, Kapila, Honnuhole, Lakshmana Tirtha, Kabini, Bhavani, Lokapavani, Noyyal and Amaravati. It is estimated as nearly 27,000 square meters.
The origin of this river is Talakaveri, which is located in the Coorg (Kodagu) district. Talakaveri is a famous pligrimage and tourist place near Mercara (Madikeri) in Coorg (Kodagu) district of Karnataka. It flows south and east City mysore forms the Iceland shivansamudra for around 765 km, emptying into the Bay of Bengal.

Malaprabha River:

The river Malaprabha also rises in Western Ghats at an altitude of 792 metres in Belgaum district. It flows for a distance 304 km and joins the Krishna at Kudalasangama.
Bennihall, Tuparihalla and Hirehalla are the main tributaries of this river.there is piligrimage centre ancient temple of Yellamma on a nearby a hill. Tourist places like aihole and badami are on this river.


Sharavathi River:

The Sharavathi is a river in India that originates at Ambutheertha in Thirthahalli taluk, flows through the Western Ghats forming the Jog Falls(which is the highest fall in India) before joining the Arabian Sea at Honavara. Linganamakki Dam is constructed to this river at linganamakki.
The major tributaries of the river are Nandihole, Haridravathi, Mavinahole, Hilkunji, Yennehole, Hurlihole, and Nagodihole.

Kabini River:

Kabini River is a tributary of river Kaveri, it originates in Wayanad District of Kerala state and flows eastward to join the Kaveri River at Tirumakudal Narasipur. Thisis also called as kabana and kapila. Chikkahole is small damp built near Najanagud.

Ghataprabha River:

this rises in the Western Ghats and flows eastwards for a length of 283 km before joining the Krishna at almatti. The hiranyakeshi river and Markandeya rivers are tribute of this river.Gokak waterfall on this is a tourist attraction.

Bhima River:

The river Bhima originates in the forest of Bhimashankar in Pune, and flows through the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka. It flows for 861 km before joining the Krishna near Kudlu in Raichur taluk. This is major tribute of the Krishna river.
There is a famous temple “vithal temple" Pandharapur on the bank of this river.

Hemavati River:

The river Hemavati rises in the Western Ghats at an elevation of about 1,219 metres and joins the river Kaveri near Krishnarajasagar. It is main tribute of the Krishna river and It is of 245 km long.

Tungabhadra River:

The Tungabhadra is a tributary of the Krishna River. It is formed north of Shimoga by the union of twin rivers, the Tunga and the Bhadra, The Tungabhadra flows joins the Krishna in Andhra Pradesh state, from where the Krishna continues east to empty into the Bay of Bengal.
Historical place Hampi is on the bank of this river. Thungabadra dam is built near the town of hospet , which is helping formers of the shimoga, davanagere and haveri.

Kumadwathi nadhi

This is tributary of the Tungabhadra, which flows in Haveri district.

The Kali River:

It is a river flowing through Karwar,.it supports livelihoods of tens of thousands of people including fishermen on the coast of Karwar. Nearby tourism spot is Sadashivgad fort is , which is located by the Kali river bridge.
