While the palace of Tippu Sultan at Nandi Hills is not open to the public, you can definitely explore the ruins of Tippu Sultan's Fort. There is a special section of the Fort known as Tippus' Drop. It was here apparently that Tippu Sultan severely punished his prisoners – by flinging them off the face of the cliff from this spot; it was a guaranteed death as it is a nearly 600 feet drop. Hence it got its name 'Suicide Point'. Another interesting spot in the Tippu Fort is the stone doorway on the north-eastern side, which is said to have facilitated horse-riding soldiers to gain access to the fort.
