Super Star Comedy Times Golden Star Ganesh


This is an article of biography on the Super Star Comedy Times Golden Star Ganesh from Adakaranahalli, Nelamangala of Bengaluru rural, Karnataka. After a struggle of about 8 years he became super star. He had the dream of becoming an actor while studying in the school and had been keeping his activities from parents till he succeeded in his pursuit.

The date of birth of actor Ganesh is on 2-7-1977 and the parents of him are, Smt Sulochana and Sri Kishan at Nelamangala. Actor Ganesh has 2 brothers Mahesh and Umesh. From nursery class to the 7th standard Ganesh studies in Basaveshwara English School. He completed his high school studies in Standard School in Peenya Dasarahalli. In the school he had his share of pranks, mischief and punishments. As he was an active participant of the arts and the cultural activities of the school, he was a favorite student of his teachers. Since the time of 3rd standard he was having interest in films and on growing up he started skipping classes and watch 1st show movies in Bangalore theatres. However, he completed his school studies and further obtained a Diploma in electronics. During the college studies he started showing his inclination in acting. He came across the Kannada play Yechchama Nayaka stage the play in the college programs and got appreciations from many. He took part in inter collegiate dramas and got the best actor award for the play 'Gelavu Yaaradu' in 1977. Slowly he started getting interest in acting and started acting in Kannada theatre troupes like the Ranga Sikshana Kendra and Ranga Sampada. With these troupes he acted in plays by name 'Sadarame' and 'Kadadida Neeru'. Ganesh felt that his future is in Bangalore and decided to shift to Bangalore. Accordingly in 2002 he came to Bangalore from Nelamangala and took a room in Basavanagudi and started staying there. He started his wait for a break in acting career. During this time when he had no work he took a diploma in acting. He started offers in Serials and from orchestras for dancing and singing.

Television career of Actor Ganesh



The first camera project of Ganesh was Guttu. This was a telefilm in Kannada but did not get any time slot for telecast. The produces played it in selected theaters in U S A. However the producers lost heavily. It is about the life of a software engineer Deepak. He get involved in the in a big project of an NRI lady Chaya Singh during her visit to India and trying to trace her family tree. This telefilm gave scope for him to expose his talent in comedy and sense of timing. The performance of actor Ganesh impressed the director of this telefilm and he promoted Ganesh to many T V serial directors and Ganesh got few roles in some serials like Yadva Tadva, Vataara directed by Nagathihalli and Pa Pa Pandu directed by Sihi Kahi Chandru. He got a job in Udaya TV as anchor the program Comedy Times telecast 5.30 to 6 pm from Mondays to Fridays. He popularized the program and it was a hit program. He was very popular with the viewers due to his unique way of interaction with them. Due to the popularity of the show fans started calling him as Comedy Time Ganesh.

Period of struggle for Ganesh

From 1995 onwards Ganesh had to struggle till 2003. During this period he used to leave home early in the morning, borrow the motor bike of his friend, skip classes and go to Bangalore for giving screen tests without the knowledge of the parents. With the biodata and certificates he used to go to the producers. Many times he used to come across others like him trying for their breaks. Ganesh got a role of villain in B Suresh's Tapori. In 2006 he became the villain turned hero in the film Chellatta directed by M D Sridhar. This was Ganesh's first feature film widely released. In this film the heroine was Chitra Rekha who was already an actress and the film ran to 125 days. It became a big hit and he instantly became the darling matinee idol of the masses. Thereafter Preetam Gubbi the film maker approached comedy star Ganesh shot a film basing the rain as its theme under the direction of Yograj Bhat. The Kannada film of actor Ganesh was completed in 6 months. After that he had not to look back and his story was part of box office history. This movie Mungaru Male released in 2006 turned out to be not only a super hit but a money spinner becoming one of the biggest hits in Kannada Cinema. The script was made with Puneeth Rajkumar in mind and when the director Yograj explained the script to Puneeth Rajkumar, he rejected it. Ganesh was involved the scripting process and was interested in acting in the movie. Ganesh knew one E Krishanappa, his neighbor at Adakaranahalli, Nelamangala and persuaded him to finance the picture and took the director Yograj Bhat to Krishanappa. Yogesh could not get dates from the Kannada actress for shooting the film and he booked a novice Pooja Gandhi for the film with Ganesh. The film was shot during rainy season mainly and at Madikeri, Jog falls, Gadag and Sakalaspura. With this Ganesh became a super star. Narayan gave the nick name Golden Star to Ganesh Making him Comedy Times Golden Star Ganesh. The film Mungaru Male was the turning point for Ganesh in his film career. He had also acted in many films in supporting roles.

Success story of golden star Ganesh



Maleyali jotheyalli
After the Kannada film Mungaru Male it was generally a climb for the golden star Ganeshon his film career. This film was an instant hit with the audience and made a record collection of Rs 75 crores at box office. It was released all over Karnataka with over 150 prints running to packed houses even on week days in PVR and other multiplex cinemas for 400 days making a history in records. The film got another 1.5 crores for right to remake in Telugu and Tamil languages. This is in spite of the not so good reviews about the film. His films Hudugatta and cheluvina chitara 2007 directed by S Narayan were also hits. Ganesh won the Best Actor award for his role in Gali pata and Maleyali Jotheyali. The later one was his home production which also got the best film award. Some of his movies like 'Circus', 'Eno Onthara' and 'Ullasa Utsaha' were not very successful though according to him he had put in equal effort in all his films. He has some projects on the line and is concentrating on them. His other films included Cheluvina Chitara – 2007, Gaali pata, Krishna, Aramane, Bombaat, Sangama etc.

Family life of Ganesh

The wife name of actor ganesh and marriage date of actor Ganesh are, Shilpa and 11th of February 2008 respectively and now has a 2 year aged daughter named Charithrya. Whatever leisure time he gets he spends with his family. In the mornings he gets up before sun rise and spends around 2 hours in gym and jogging around his house to keep fit. Then he does some pooja and will have breakfast mostly of fruits and juice. If there is no shooting schedule for him, he reads script or watching films from his collection of movie DVDs. If gets 3 hours time he will watch a movies from his huge collections of films of all languages like English, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, French, German and Korean. He carries DVDs whenever he goes out of station to watch movies in spare times. According to his wife Shilpa Ganesh is a positive person. Because of this he had also some embarrassing occasions.

Best Actor (Kannada), at 56th Filmfare Awards South for Gaalipata and again for 57th also for Maleyali Jotheyali. He got the most popular actor award of Ujala Suvarna Film Awards in 2008.
