The capital of the state has most famous places which are the major concern in terms of tourist spots and of national importance concern. Various national premier institutes has been built here due to its very placid and cool environment.

Surrounded in the mountain ranges of Himalayas, Dehradun is considered as the oldest cities of mother India, famously known as "abode of Saga Drona". It was the important part of Gharwal rulers (erstwhile). Here, we can find various headquarters of premier national institutes like Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, World Life Institute of India, Forest Research Institute, Survey of India and Indian Institute of Petroleum etc. This has been considered a best suitable place for national services due to its placid environment.

Tapkeshwar Temple
Garhi Cantt area surrounds the temple for about 5.5 kilometer from the main bus stand and is finely connected by the road service. A Lord Shiva lingam has been placed here from where the water droplets originate from the rock. When the occasion of Shivratri comes people pray for the Lord Shiva and a fair is also organized here.

Robber's Cave
A best place for picnic and about 8 kilometer fro the main bus stands in Garhi Cantt area. To reach here, one has to travel by foot to reach this beautiful cave. A cold stream of water falls from this place. The darkness and the flow of stream give a pleasure and an eternal feeling.

It is located near the Raipur-Sahastradhara crossing and famous for beautiful surroundings. Here you can find the ancient India still performing the various deeds as it used to be in ancient time. The chanting done can fill your heart like anything. It is at an approximate distance of five kilometer from Dehradun.

Wadia Institute

It can be reached from Clock Tower on Mahadeo Singh Road. The museum has been built in this institute depicting various Uttaranchal Glaciers.
So, the capital offers much places of interest to different types of people across the globe.
