Haridwar (A holy city of Uttarakhand)
Hari standing for God and dwar meaning door, henceforth door which leads to God. This place is situated in the state and is regarded as the holiest cities of India. Ganga is the river which flows all along the place and people across the county come here to clear all their sins and to attain Moksha.
Religious beliefs about Haridwar
As per the Hindu mythology, it is among the four places where a drop of amrit fell and thus the place has the ancient value. These four spots were Ujjain, Haridwar, Nasik and Allahabad. There is a custom to put the ashes of mortal human member of a family and this is a belief that the soul attains full peace if done so.
The place has got great temples of various God and Goddesses and all the time the preaching sound can be heard, which makes one feel better. The river Ganga flows in a very placid manner and at the evening time it seems like a heaven with all the lights spreading their shine like anything.
