Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2012


The election commission announced the schedule for assembly election in five states of India as Goa, Punjab, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The state Uttarakhand has 70 Assembly constituencies, out of which 13 are reserved for SCs and 2 for STs.

Election commission has announced assembly elections and according to that assembly elections are to be held on 30 January and counting will be conducted on 4 March 2012.

1. Issue of Notification - 05 January 2012
2. Last date for making nominations - 12 January 2012
3. Scrunity of nominations - 13 January 2012
4. Last date for withdrawal of candidature - 16 January 2012
5. Date of poll - 30January 2012
6. Counting of votes - 04March 2012
Election commission announced that all the election process shall be completed till 09 march 2012.

Parties facing each other in Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2012


The parties which are going to fight against other one in assembly election are :
BJP (Bharatiya Janta Party)
BSP (Bahujan Samajwadi Party)
INC (Indian National Party)

Every party has stared their preparations to strengthen the party positionBJP has announced the name of 50 candidates for assembly elections and will fight in the leadership of Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Kandhuri and INC will fight in the leadership by Harak Singh Rawat.

Effect of heavy snowfall on assembly election 2012


Intense cold waves and heavy snowfall spread virtually all over the Uttarakhand and mainly in the hilly areas. Because of this very condition in state Uttarakhand, on big rallies have been conducted mainly in the hilly areas like Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Kumaon, Garhwal regions of Uttarakhand amd been experiencing heavy snowfall amd rough weather. More snowfall is forecast in higher reaches oe Kumaon and Garhwal.

Urge of parties to EC


On Tuesday, BJP's Vice President Mukhtas Abbas Naqvi urged to the election commission to postpone the election by taking the view oe heavy snowfall and intense cold conditions in state Uttarakhand and INC says that they are going to respect the decision taken by the respective election commission. Because oe heavy snowfall in Uttarakhand state, voters may face problems and its a big problems for the leaders to go to their campaign and the party workers to the conduct rallies.

Team Anna in assembly elections


Team Anna after releasing a campaign pamphlet for the assembly elections made it clear that they are not in against with any political party. This campaign pamphlet is of four pages and this pamphlet titled 'Your vote can change the history of India" Betrayal by Central Government on the country'. This pamphlet of team Anna campaign targeted Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav on land acquisition and lokpal. The BJP was also posed questions.
Team Anna members Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan in a press conference told that team Anna campaign was not against or not in favour oe any oe the political party. Their campaign is on issues like corruption, lokpal bills and land acquisition.
While pointing out the pamphlet's title, Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal shot back "Hasn't the government cheated the whole country" and Prashand Bhushan said that they would raise important issues like lokpal bill and what parties did with lokpal bill? On the issue of lokpal bill byCentral Government, the pamphlet has listed "six betrayals". Team Anna's campaign pamphlet attacked the congress accusing it of betraying the country on lokpal issue even team Anna members claimed that they are not in against or favour of any of the party. Team Anna started their election campaign from Haridwar, on January 21. They are holding campaign against corruption and several other issues like lokpal bill. They visited Dehradun, Rudrapur, Almora and many other places in order to wake people for the assembly polls in the state.
Some questions were raised to all political partie7 which include
- Whether they will oppose the bill in parliament?
- Their stand on land acquisition bill
- Whether they agree that lokpal bill is weak?
- CBI should be independent of government control or not?
Team Anna also put question to Rahul Gandhi that whether Congress will dare to bring a strong lokpal bill on the lines of Lokayukta Act in BJP- ruled.

INC or Congress leader Rahul Gandhi


Congress leader Rahul Gandhi organised many campaigns to promote his party in assembly election 2012. He said that the state failed to utilise funds offered by Central Government for the development of the state and for the development of poor people. While organizing party campaign in Uttarakhand state, Rahul Gandhi put shots at Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal was asked by the BJP to quit, just that to salvage party's image.
Rahul Gandhi appealed to the public to dislodge, if they are not interested to take benefits of Central schemes and if are interested to develop their state. At Parade Ground while attending a rally, he said that "Centre gave money to Uttarakhand for development but the money was stolen". According to him money given for MNERGA, Kumbh etc was not utilised and that money was meant for common man, adding this he said this money was not to be mis-utilised by the state government. He highlighted several cases like land grabbing and corruption.
Strategies of INC- All the parties are sharpening their strategies to grab the power in state is having number of young voters. So they are communicating with the youth and ensuring them they will develop the state. INC is keeping simple election plans. INC is not using media coverage very extensively. They are trying to communicate with people directly.

Soniya Gandhi in Almora, Uttarakhand


On 21st January, Soniya Gandhi attended an election campaign in Almora district of state. While addressing the people she said that BJP is responsible for corruption in state and due to corruption, BJP was forced to change its Chief Minister in Uttarakhand.
While addressing the people she said that BJP had promised that it would provide electricity to each and every village of the state.
"Did it happens? It certainly didnot happens".
Thereby she claimed Khanduri government that they are not providing adequate electricity to the hilly areas of state Uttarakhand. She said that only 13% of electricity is given to the hilly districts of state Uttarakhand. She said does the BJP government believe that the people living in the hilly areas can manage their lives with the sun and the moon.

Shoe cases in Uttarakhand Assembly Election / Public reaction in Assembly Election


A man named Kishan Lal (35) tried to target a slipper on team Anna when they are addressing people in Lord Venkatshwara hall of Dehradun district, Uttarakhand. At that time Arvind Kejriwal, Manis Sisodia and Kiran Bedi were addressing people. The shoe thrown from a distance of about 20 metres, however the shoe not reach the stage where respected members were sitting. And a man named Kuldip tried to target a shoe on INC leader Rahul Gandhi when he is addressing people in a public meeting in Vikasnagar of district Dehradun. But fortunately the shoe didnot hit him. When that man was taken into custody by security personnel and congress supporters, Rahul Gandi was heard saying, "don't hit him".
Over all this Rahul said that by doing this if they thingj that it will force me to run away then they are mistaken, Rahul will not run away.
Congress general secretary, Digvijaya Singh has blamed Yoga Guru Ramdev for this shoe attack at Rahul Gandhi.

At 21 January, when Rahul was addressing people in a rally, two men raised black flags and started shouting slogans against corruption. One oe those men was identified as Ajay Kumar Singh and said to be a supporter of Yoga Guru Ramdev. Soon after their act, they are beaten up by some people attending the rally.

Baba Ramdev in assembly election, Uttarakhand 2012


Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev attended many campaigns, public meetings, rallies to aware people about Uttarakhand assembly election and targets Nishank and Congress on important issues like lokpal bill and corruption.

Use votes not shoes or slippers


While addressing people in a public meeting, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev appeals that don't target politicians by shoes and slippers. If you don't like them just vote them out. When he is addressing people in a public meeting in connection with the elections, he said that voters needs to exercise their vote-----"the weapon of democracy".
Kumar Vishwas reports that team Anna had invited Baba Ramdev to campaign in poll-bound Uttarakhand. But Anna Hazare criticised some of the followers of Ramdev's attempt to deface a hoarding featuring Soniya Gandhi outside the Congress headquarters in Delhi. He said that the act went against the spirit of democracy.
When INC leader, Rahul Gandhi was addressing people in Vikasnagar of district Dehradun, a man named Kuldip targets a shoe at Rahul but fortunately shoe didn't hit the target and Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh has blamed Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev for this shoe attack at Rahul. He said,"they all have same intentions that somehow we would scare them and the cases which are registered against them, will be stopped.
By adding this he said, Rahul Gandhi belongs to a brave family "but who is Ramdev. He is a criminal".
Uma Bharti met Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev in Haridwar but Ramdev didnot disclose anything about the half-an-hour meeting with BJP leader. Ramdev had earlier announced that in his campaign he is against corrupt leaders and he blamed that Congress for corrupting the country for generations.
While addressing media he said that the government does not want to give justice to the country and they are considering it their right to rule this country.
As Ramdev is holding campaign against black money and he is said that he feels to see the corrupt leaders unfurling national flag on the occasion oe republic day.
He said,"it pains to see the political condition of the country. It pains to see those who are unfurling national flag have murdered mother India and have corrupted billions of rupees of the country".
Ramdev toured state Uttarakhand for assembly elections in the state and urging people to vote for an honest party.
