The MH-CET exam, conducted by the Director of Medical Education & Research (DMER), is the most important exam for students who wish to get admissions to various engineering and medical courses at educational institutes in the State of Maharashtra.

MH-CET is the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test exam for the selection of students to all degree courses in:
* Engineering
* Health sciences (allotment of seats for this is done by the Director of Technical Education)
* Pharmacy
* Veterinary science
* Animal husbandryWhat are the eligibility requirements for MH-CET?
* You have to be an Indian national
* You have to have passed Class XII board exams with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & English. Those appearing for Class XII board exams can take the MH-CET exam in that year on a provisional basis
* You should have scored the minimum marks required for eligibility
- Minimum marks for general category students: 150 out of 300 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics taken together.
- Minimum marks for backward classes category students: 135 out of 300 in 3 subjects.
* If you are holding a Diploma certificate in engineering from a recognized Polytechnic, you should have obtained at least 50% marks in order to be eligible for MH-CET.
* You must have passed biology + Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & English in the Class XII board exams if you wish to pursue courses in bio-technology or bio-medical engineering.
* If you are applying for marine engineering courses, you must fulfill the required criteria as stated by the Institute where you will study.
* Female students are not allowed to apply for admission to mining engineering courses.
Important Notes:
* If you are a candidate from outside Maharashtra also you can take the MH-CET, but you cannot take part in the centralized admission process (CAP)
* If you are a candidate from outside Maharashtra you cannot avail of the reservation facility. You will be considered as a candidate from the general/open category.
* If you are an NRI student, you are eligible for availing of the 15% sanctioned intake. Where to get MH-CET application forms?

Note: The application form could be part of the MH-CET brochure which is available in March generally every year.When are MH-CET application forms available?
The MH-CET forms are available generally in the second week of March every year, till the fourth week of March when the deadline for submitting the forms is scheduled. What are the applicaiton form fees for the MH-CET exam?
The fees for the brochure-cum-application form is generally Rs.700/- for general category students and about Rs.500/- for students of other categories. The fees may vary from year to year, so please confirm at the time of applying.What is the Maharashtra MH-CET exams format and exam paper pattern?
The MH-CET comprises of 3 question papers. Each of these papers is for 100 marks.
The 3 papers are:
1. Paper I: (a) Physics – 50 marks; (b) Chemistry – 50 marks.
2. Paper II: This is the Biology paper with 2 sections – (a) Botany – 50 marks; and (b) Zoology – 50 marks.
3. Paper III: This is entirely Mathematics – 100 marks.
Note: Students applying for pharmacy admissions have to appear for both Paper I and Paper II; they may also appear for Paper III if they so wish. What is MH-CET exam schedule and timings?
The MH-CET exam is generally scheduled for the first week of May. Each of the 3 MH-CET exam papers are of 1 ½ hours each. Generally, the timings of each is a fixed one every year (do check though before appearing for the exam!).
* The first paper of Physics & Chemistry is the first of the day, from 100a.m. to 11.30a.m.
* The second paper of Biology is next, between 11.30a.m. to 1.30p.m.
* The final paper is the Mathematics exam, between 3p.m. to 4.30p.m. Where are the MH-CET exam centers located?
You can find out the location of your exam center for the MH-CET exam at the time of making the application. A list of centers is provided with the brochure of the MH-CET exam.When are the MH-CET exam results declared?
The results of the MH-CET exam papers are generally declared sometime in June, usually after June 10th. What is the grading system of the MH-CET exam papers?
The MH-CET exam papers are not evaluated manually. Your answer sheet will be checked by a computerized scanning system. This system incorporates the use of an Optical Mark Reader.
When the evaluation takes place, if student A and student B get identical marks then preference will be given to the student who has got higher marks in mathematics/biology. If the marks are still identical, the next preference is for the student who has got higher marks in physics. If the marks are still identical, then will be considered the student who gets the higher aggregate marks at the Class X level. If even now the marks are still identical, the student who is older in age will be given preference (make sure that you have given your correct date of birth!).
