The Board of Cricket for Cricket in India (BCCI) took a decision to formulate "Indian Premier League (IPL)" was started in 2008 consisting of only 8 teams. These teams were Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Hyderabad Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, King XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. After conducting the two successful seasons of IPL in 2008 and 2009; the Board of Cricket for Cricket in India (BCCI) found that they can auction for two more teams. Hence, on 21st march 2010 they announced that Pune and Kochi will be the two new teams.

Pune Team:


Now it was an auction for the Pune team and two giant groups were eager to bid for the same. Those two giants were Sahara Adventure Sports Limited and Videocon Group India. Here it is the most specific point to know that the Pune Team was being auctioned at the highest amongst of all the teams in the IPL season 3 which was being conducted in the year 2010. So the Pune team got a price of Rs. 1,702 Crore i.e. US $370 Million. Hence, Subrata Roy, Owner of Sahara Group was able to purchase the IPL team of Pune.

Sahara Warriors Pune:


When the auction was being done at that season the Sahara Group gave the Pune Team a name called as "Sahara Pune Warriors". But this name didn't last long and they decided to change it to "Pune Warriors India". At first it was said that they can play for the third season of IPL but due to some reasons it was not possible. Hence, the Pune Warriors India was able to take part in this tournament in the year 2011

Sponsors for Pune Warriors India:


Starting with the logo designing they decided to design logo in the form of a spear wielding warrior riding a stallion and their name of Pune Warriors India will just be next to it. Now the logo was designed and they started finding the sponsors. The very first Principal sponsor for the Pune Warrior India was TVS Motors. Whereas, the official apparel sponsor for them is Adidas.

Team Composition:

The foreign player's country is depicted right after their names. Whereas as, if not mentioned then they are Indian players. The team composition is divided in to four categories as follows:

i) Batsmen:
Callum Ferguson(Australia), Sourav Ganguly, Dheeraj Jadhav, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, Harshad Khadiwale, Mithun Manhas, Mohnish Mishra, Manish Pandey, Harpreet Singh, Grame Smith(South Africa).

ii) Wicket Keeper:

Eklavya Diwedi, Robin Utthapa and Tim Payne(Australia).

iii) All Rounders:

Yuvraj Singh (Captain), James Faulkner(Australia), Ganesh Gaikwad, Mitchell Marsh(Australia), Nathan McCullum(New Zealand), Sachin Rana, Jesse Ryder(New Zealand).

iv) Bowlers:

Imtiaz Ahmed, Murali Kartik, Kamran Khan, Bhuveshwar Kumar, Shrikant Mundhe, Wayne Parnell (South Africa), Rahul Sharma, Jerome Taylor (Jamaica), Alfonso Thomas (South Africa) and Shrikant Wag.
