This resource briefly explains about the TANCET entrance examinations, its format and also procedures to be followed.
TANCET
TANCET stands for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test.
TANCET an entrance test conducted by Anna University for admission of post-graduate degree courses in all Government/ Private colleges affiliated to Anna University including Anna University at Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy and others.Courses applicable with TANCET
The TANCET entrance test is applicable for post-graduate courses like M.Tech/ M.E./ MBA/ MCA/ M.Arch/ M.Plan.
TANCET is conducted every year.Eligibility for TANCET
Eligibility criteria for all courses are almost same.
A candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree certificate. Patterns are shown below.
* A Pass in any recognised degree with 10 + 2 + 3/4 years pattern.
(or)
* A Pass in any recognised degree with 10 + 3 years of Diploma + 3 years pattern.TANCET application forms
Application are generally available during the end of March and the test dates will during the end of May.

Negative Marking is done in TANCET exams. 1/5th of Mark is deduced for every wrong answer.

Section II of TANCET Exam (Compulsory) - Basic Engineering and Sciences - 45 Questions
Section III of TANCET Exam - Chosen by the candidate among 14 different specialization - 40/45 QuestionsNegative marks system in TANCET M.E exam
Negative Marking is done. 1/4th of Mark is deduced for every wrong answer.
Time Duration of test is 2 hours.
TANCET MCA Test Format:
Section I - Quantitative Ability
Section II - Analytical Reasoning
Section III - Logical Reasoning
Section IV - Computer Awareness
Test has a total of 100 questions. 1/4th of mark is deduced for every wrong answer.
Time duration of test is 2 hours.TANCET Results
TANCET Results will be announced in 20 days (tentative) online. TANCET results can be viewed at www.annauniv.edu site. TANCET Mark Sheets will be mailed to candidates by post.TANCET Counselling
Candidates have to apply seperately for counselling by obtaining application forms from Anna University.
A TANCET call letter will be mailed denoting the date and centre of counselling for the candidate.
Candidates have to take the original certificates and marksheets at the time of counselling.
Candiates are allowed to choose colleges and hence, the Admissions are provided.
