Rathinagiri Bala Murugan Temple is one of the ancient temples in TamilNadu devoted for Lord Muruga. It was built around the 14th century. There is a literary evidence of the Rathnagiri Murugan temple. The famous poet Arunagirinathar has sung about this temple in the 14th century. It was renovated in the year 1980.Lord Muruga is present in two forms in this temple:

1. Lord Thirukkolam, and
2. Lord Gurukkolam.

Gopuram of the temple The Ratnagiri Bala Murugan temple is one of the famous temple situated at Vellore district in Tamil Nadu. There are 2 pathways in the hill one for climbing up and the other for climbing down. The main diety was installed in a chariot which is made of granite. There are 2 temples for the Lord Vinayaga, one temple is built up in the hill and another is present at the bottom of the hill. The Lord is decorated with ornaments made of gold, silver and precious stones. The garbhagriha is made of granite and is modeled according to the Chola architecture. The cost of this garbhagriha is 20 lakhs, it has been built for installing the deity.

The temple contains a six-sided holy tank. This tank was specially designed to help its devotees. The cost of constructing this tank was nine lakhs. Lord Muruga is called as the Tamil kadavul so all the poojas and mantras performed in the Rathinagiri Bala Murugan Temple are in Tamil language. A charity hospital for the benefit of the poor is built. Eye camps at free of cost are held every month and operations are done free of cost. Many cottages are available for the devotees.
