How to make Tamil Recipe Adai (Dal Dosa)

Adai is a traditional recipe of Tamilnadu. This article is about the making of Tamil Recipe Adai (Dal Dosa) in a simple and easy way. Since it contains a combination of dals it is very good for health as it is filled with nutrients and is best suited for growing children and pregnant women.

Ingredients required for making Tamil Recipe Adai (Dal Dosa)

This resource will let you know the preparation of Adai, a combination of four dals and rice.

Idli rice - 1 cup
Urad dal - 1/4 cup
Toor dal - 1/4 cup
Channa dal - 1/4 cup
A handful whole moong dal
A small piece of ginger
Red chillies - 5
Cumin seeds -1-2 tsp
Grated coconut – 1/4 cup
A pinch of asafoetida
Salt to taste
A sprig of curry leaves

Preparation of Tamil Recipe Adai (Dal Dosa)

1. Clean the rice and dals.

2. Soak this along with the red chillies over night.

3. Grind the soaked rice and dals with curry leaves, ginger and red chillies to a coarse paste.

4. Add grated coconut and salt to the batter.

For making adai use a dosa pan, pour a ladle full of batter and spread it evenly. Add oil around the adai , wait till it is crisp. Turn the sides to ensure that it is fully cooked.

Serve hot with avial, Groundnut-chutney or Garlic chutney
