Meenakshi College for Women is one of the best women's college situated in the busiest locality Kodambakkam area of Chennai. This is a Government - aided college best suited for higher education. The college is affiliated to the University of Madras. Meenakshi College has a very good name and has got the credit of producing some of the disciplined and intelligent women in the country. The students of Meenakshi College are trained both in academics and other activities such as arts and sports. The main aim is to mould the young women into responsible and well- disciplined citizens of India. 
Meenakshi College for Women was started in the year 1975 with a strength of 100 students and it has now increased to around 3000. It is preferred by most of the parents for their daughters education and they consider it as a pride. The College offers about 20 different courses in the Arts and the Sciences, which includes PG courses as well as M.Phil. Courses. This college become an autonomous college in the year 1999.
