IFET College of Engineering was founded in 1998 by Indo French Educational Trust (IFET). The college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and it is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is widely spread over an area of more than 15 acres. It is situated about 14 kms from Villupuram and 26 kms from Pondicherry. The college has been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certificate for academic standard.UG courses offered at IFET, Villupuram

• The library of the college is situated in Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Block. The working hours of the library are 8.00am to 8.30pm during weekdays and 9.30am to 6.00pm during Saturdays.
• There are various sections in the library such as stack section, reading and reference section, periodical section, newspaper section, reprography section, journal section and digital library. All the processes of the library are monitored by using software.

The college provides various lab facilities for its students. The laboratories in the college include Computer Programming lab, Software component lab, Software Engineering lab, Internet programming lab, Graphics and Multimedia lab, OOPS lab, DBMS lab, Networking lab, Operating system lab, Visual Programming lab, CAD/CAM lab, English Communication skills lab, etc.,Hostel and Transport facilities at IFET, Villupuram
• The college has separate hostel facility for boys and girls. The hostel students are provided with food at lunch and snacks at tea time. The hostel provides a homely environment for its students.
• Transport facilities are available in the college for the students and staff members. There are totally 13 buses in the college. These are operated from various areas like Cuddalore, Pondicherry, Neyveli, Panruti, Gingee and Villupuram.Placement at IFET, Villupuram
The college placement department is functioning along with 5 department placement co-ordinators. It aims in preparing the students to attend the campus interviews.
