He started his career as a two wheeler mechanic who used to repair two wheelers and soon at the age of 18 he got his drivers license and started to participate in car races and subsequently won many prizes too. He then got into the cinema industry when he was introduced in his first movie Amaravathi. The first biggest hit for Tamil actor Ajith was from the movie Aasai which provided a major breakthrough and the villain character was made by prakash raj who proved to be the biggest positive for the movie's success.
Following this Ajith went on to get his second all time Superhit Kadhal Kottai in which a movie theme which was completely different from the previous movies and it started a huge fan base for Ajith in Tamil nadu.Then he went on to get more successful movies adding to his name like ullasam, aval varuvala, unnidathil ennai koduthaen and more similar movies.
Then in the recent past he had many more successful movies like varalaru and Billa which was a remake of the super star's Billa.
