More than 25 famous establishments have been locked up by the government of Tamil Nadu

It is a fact that Chennai is known for the wide range of shops available at the region. On the last day of the month Qctober almost 25 establishments situated at usman road and Ranganadhan Streets were locked and sealed by the CMDA. Though the shop owners are against the move of the government they are helpless and the lockout has already reached the second day.

It was yesterday 31.10.2011, The famous shops like Saravana Stores and Pothys along with some 23 more shops were locked and sealed by the Chennai Corporation.

It has been said that the action was taken after the corporation, Electricity board and the metrowater board had filed a case against the establishments and the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), has taken steps in order to close some 25 establishments in both the Ranganadhan street and the Usman road of T Nagar.

There were various other famous stores like Jayachandran Textiles, Ramanathan Jewellery, Sreedevi gold house, Archana Sweets, Chennai Silks, Rathna Stores, Sri Kumaran gold house etc., which were also locked and sealed by the CDMA. It took place as the answer given by these stores were not satisfactory for the Chennai corporation board.

It is said that the owner of Saravana stores was against the move of the government and stated that almost all the products are available here and the stores are operating for more than 40 years and this is not a proper step of the government. It should be noted that the stores collect a revenue of several lakhs a day and because of this problem the stores have been closed for two long days that has resulted in a huge loss for all the shops in the locality. Now the shop owners have joined together to raise voice against the government one has to wait and see the progress of the situation as there are more number of buyers and Employees who are dependent on these shops for their living.
