The Tirunelveli Medical College is located in Palayamkottai, Thirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, India. The Tirunelveli Medical College was started in 1965 and produced a very good number of efficient doctors to serve the people. History of Tirunelveli Medical College
The college has added its first seeds in the academic year 1965-66. It was established with a great effort of the Tamil Nadu government. The college runs under management of the University of Madras. The college got its affiliation from the Madurai Kamaraj University. In the second year of its life it has sheltered the II year students in the present building. Later on the Government Hospital was added to this Medical College. It is in the year 1977 the college got its recognition from the Medical Council of India(MCI). The college has a total of 150 seats every year for the new students. The entry into the campus is very highly competitive. The students are admitted on basis of their results in their higher secondary examinations. There is a another way also through which the students are admitted in the college. The another way is that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and All India Pre-Medical Test)AIPMT conducts an entrance exam and selects the students for this college's admission.
