There are a number of buses to various places of the state from Chennai and the koyambedu bus terminal is the biggest bus terminal in Chennai that was laid by the former chief minister M Karunanidhi and was opened by present Chief minister Jayalalitha in the year 2001. It has two terminals side by side where one of the terminals connects to the buses that go to local bus depots at various parts of Chennai and the other connects to the various places or districts of Tamil Nadu like Madurai, Tirchy, Salem, etc., I would say that it is one of the most important bus terminals in the nation that provides transportation facilities to most of the people in Chennai. The railways are doing well here in Chennai as it is successful than any other station in Chennai. Most of the stations also have a separate office for the police and the people who are misbehaving are taken to the courts directly from here. It connects the most important sections of the country which includes places like Chennai Koyambedu, Vadapalani etc., up to velachery but was planned to extend even till St. Mount station. I would say that it would be a best alternative to the people as the region are always with huge traffic and sometimes it takes more than 40 minutes to reach vadapalani from Koyambedu and I have faced such situations whenever I go to the Vijaya hospital situated there in Vadapalani.
