The festival is celebrated in Koovagam a small village in Villupuram. The festival usually takes place in the hot session i.e in the months of April and May. The main part of the festival lies on the marriage of the enuchs. The Aravanies marry Lord Koothandavar and celebrate that whole night with dance and songs. In the morning they mourn over the death of Koothandavar and cry aloud. During this time they break their bangles that they wore in the last night.
