Mandarmani is a beach resort located in Purba Medinipur district of South Bengal, very near to Digha. It is almost 180km from Kolkata. It is now one of the Bengal's recently developed tourist destination.

How to reach Mandarmani

By Road: Mandarmani is best reached by road. To reach Mandarmani you have to take the Digha route.
Regular Calcutta State Transport Corporation (CSTC) buses are available from Esplanade to Digha. To reach Mandarmani one has to get down at Chawalkhola bus stop and then can hire private vehicles. Its just 14km away and the traveling cost in a hire vehicle ranges between Rs450-500.

You can also drive your own car to reach there. By car it will take 3-4hrs but you should know the directions beforehand.

By Train: The nearest station to Mandarmani is Digha. You can take Shalimar-Digha Express Train that leaves from Shalimar in the morning. You can get down either at Kanthi Station or Digha. Vehicles are available form the entrance of the station to get to Mandarmani.
You can also take Santragachi-Digha Passenger Express from Santragachi to reach Digha.

Though Mandarmani is a year round destination but winters are the best time to feel the sun kissed beach and get a view of sunrise.

What to see in Mandarmani

Most people are here to hang out at the beach.

The waves tend to be very calm here. You can watch the fishermen standing or wading through deep water laying their nets or catching fish and crabs.

At the end of the beach you can see there is a "mohana" or river delta (a place where a river meets the sea). This view is really beautiful.

You can also hire some chairs from the nearby stalls in the beach and sit there.
