Bakreshwar is a town, which is located in Birbhum district of West Bengal, very near to Bolpur. The distance between Bakreshwar and Bolpur is somewhat 45km and it is about 230 km from Kolkata. Bakreshwar is also famous for Bakreshwar Thermal Power Station of West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited which is located few near to the Bakreshwar town.

The nearest rail station in Bakreshwar is Bolpur. Train Services are easily available from Howrah, Sealdah in Kolkata to take you to Bakreshwar. One can get Shantiniketan Express from Howrah to reach Bolpur Rail Station. Trains traveling from Howrah Station to New Jalpaiguri al so halt in Bolpur Rail Station. From Bolpur one can get local buses, trekkers to reach Bakreshwar.

By Bus
One can also reach Bakreshwar by road from Kolkata. CSTC Buses ply daily from Esplanade Kolkata to take you to Bakreshwar.

Temple town Bakreshwar
Bakreshwar is considered as one of the Shakti Pithas of India. According to Hindu mythology Sati's eyebrow fell over this place. This place is famous for ancient old Bakranath Shiva Temple and many other temples surrounding this place. Thousands of tourists visit this place every year to offers their prayers to Lord Shiva in Bakranath Temple. There are nearly 200 small Shiva temples surrounding Bakranath Temple, which are also worth visit.

Hot Springs of Bakreshwar
There are around eight hot springs of varying temperature in Bakreshwar, which are also one of the main attractions of this place. Many devotees from all parts of India visit this place throughout the year. The eight hot springs are Agni Kunda, Soubhagya Kunda, Vairav Kunda, Kheer Kunda, Brahma Kunda, Jibat Kunda, Amrita Kunda and Surya Kunda. The hottest among them is Agni Kunda and it is rich in many minerals of sodium, calcium, silicates which are said to have healing properties. It is believed that if any woman seeks long life of her child then she has to take bath in Amrita Kunda.
