Early Life of Tapan Sinha
Tapan Sinha was born on 2nd October in the year 1924 in Kolkata. He completed his graduation in Physics from Calcutta University. After that he completed his M.Sc from Calcutta University. Career of Tapan Sinha
Tapan Sinha began his career in the year 1946 as a Sound Engineer in Calcutta's New Theater Group. At that time when Tapan Sinha was young he was very much influenced by contemporary American and British Cinema. In the year 1950 he went to London to learn filmmaking. After reaching London he contacted Pinewood Studios of London. At that time Mr. Cry Hearsth was the manager of the studio and through his help Tapan Sinha got his first assignment to work as a Sound Engineer under Director Charles Cryton's unit. He was in London, UK for at least four years. Then after returning to India he started his film-directing career. Tapan Sinha's first directed film in India was "Ankush" which got superhit in the box office. Tapan Sinha was greatly inspired by Rabindranath Tagore's work and he made three films based on the stories of Rabindranath Tagore. They are Kabuliwala, Kuudito Pasan, and Atithi. His film "Kabuliwala" is a children's film and for this film he has earned many praises. This film has been shown in the Berlin Film Festival.
He has made nearly 400-500 films throughout his film career both in Hindi and Bengali. He has also made various categories of movies like some of them are children;s movies, some of them are detective movies and some are based on real life. In the year 1956 he received the Music Award and Silver Bear at Berlin Film Festival for he movie Kabuliwala.
In the year 1991 his movie Ek Doctor ki Maut received many awards under different sections.
In the year 2008 he was awarded with Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his immense contribution tio Indian Cinema.
