Bengali fish recipes! the best cusine of india

When we think of Bengal there are certain dishes which flashes in our mind.So lets discuss some culinary delights of Bengal.Some sweets and some spicy! we will begin with Bengali Fish Curry which is every Bengali's favourite! Each bengali meal is said to incomplete if it doesn't serve fish curry and steaming rice.

Lets start with our dish of the Day. Macher jhol. Its a very famous bengali delicacy and prepared mostly in all bengali households.
Lets begin our preparation into the pungent mustard flavored fish curry with a steaming bowl of rice.

Macher Jhol

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Serves: four

Ingridients for Macher Jhol

6 medium sized fish fillets
salt to taste.
3 chopped onions
2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
4 tbsp mustard oil
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp tomato puree
1 tsp black onion seeds
1 tsp cumin powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp chilie powder
800 ml water
4 green chillies
little bit of chopped coriander leaves.

How to prepare Macher Jhol in Bengali style

Firstly marinate the fish fillets in salt,onion,ginger garlic paste and half the turmeric powder. keep the marinated fish aside for half an hour.

Heat oil in a pan. Add black onion seeds and fry for few minutes.Now add the fish fillets until golden brown from both sides.

Take another pan add tomato puree,chillie powder, cumin powder,coriander powder, salt and the remaining turmeric powder.Add water,cover the pan and bring to boil for sometime.

Finally add the fried fish fillets add slit green chillies,lower the flame and simmer for 25 minutes.Garnish with coriander leaves.
