Never miss this visual treat near Chennai

This particular input would be very useful for anyone who is interested in exploring nature at its best. Tourists who come to Chennai, think it is just a concrete jungle, and as bad as Mumbai or Kolkatta, or even New Delhi in this respect.

That is far from the truth. Even within Chennai, there are good parks and places where one can spend a short while, in the company of greenery all around. One such place is the lovely Kathipara junction, at Guindy. This is one of the biggest bridges in Asia, and it takes one to different parts of the city. It is a thrill to watch, as the metro train towers over this bridge. At night, one should take the metro and go to the airport to see the lovely new airport.

Be that as it may, there are some fabulously green spots. One has to just take bus number 54 from a place called Guiindy and travel up to Poonamalee. This is a very frequent bus. One should start at 5.30 AM on the early morning bus. After reaching Poonamalee, just walk into any of the good vegetarian hotels there and ask for a parcel, so that the breakfast can be had in absolute peace. There are share autos and a number of buses, at specific timings to a place called Perambakkam.

Those who have a fairly good pocket full of money can take a cab from here and it will take only around 30 minutes to reach Perambakkam. As is common with any suburb, there is a temple there. Forget the temple, if you are bored of temples. Just take the local shared auto and go to any interior village.

You will see greenery all around. Driving down the main road to another small town called Thankkolam ( around 30 minutes away by car) is a lovely experience as well. Greenery on all sides and a massive expanse of forests in the background.

Even if you know broken English, you will find someone to happily assist you. People do not speak Hindi and do not like to speak in it, even if they know a few words. Just spend two hours and take the return bus to the city. The local people will guide you on the timings.

Just three hours will be a great experience.
